Carsten Schwarz studied computer science at Universität Bonn and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and mathematics at FernUniversität in Hagen and has a strong background in the fields of smartcards and cryptography. He is currently a Product Architect at Bundesdruckerei GmbH and is responsible for SW-Platforms and Products.

Under the roof of the authentos GmbH holding, Bundesdruckerei GmbH is the main company of the Bundesdruckerei Group and since its privatisation in 2000 has advanced to become one of the world's leading suppliers of high-security technology solutions and products.

With its future-enabled ID systems, the latest in chip technology and biometric processes, the Bundesdruckerei Group is responding to the global increase in demand for security and the permanent expansion of international security standards. Intensive development work in the Group's own R&D departments enabled the registration of a host of patents in recent years. With several new products, the Group was additionally able to make an important contribution towards optimised ID processes, increased mobility of document verification operations, and reliable interoperability of ID systems used on an international scale.
